Traps and Taps drums and dances it way through the history of two American art forms; Jazz drumming and American tap dancing. See and hear the progression of rhythm in music, drumming and dance from the late 1800’s up to the bebop era of the 1940’s. Watch as Clayton Cameron and Chester Whitmore give breath to such innovators as drummer Max Roach and dancer Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and many more as they lay down the rhythm of each era. Come step into another time, you will love the beat.
Clayton Cameron is best known for his touring and 14 Grammy award winning recordings with Tony Bennett. One of those Grammies was the history making Album of the Year called Tony Bennett Unplugged. Clayton has kept time behind giants of the music industry including Frank Sinatra, BB King, John Mayer, and Jennifer Hudson to name a few, but it was his 8 years of touring with Sammy Davis Jr. that prepared him for his presentation of “Traps and Taps, A Brief History of American Rhythm.

"Mann... is owner and operator of a splendid instrument that owes as much to June Christy as it does to Sarah Vaughan. She possesses the unique ability to be simultaneously cool and sultry, to seem as crystalline as Baccarat's finest yet smoky as a Dietrich film festival, and to suggest that she's just stepped out of the 1950s while sounding utterly contemporary.
