We recently collaborated with Article to fill our Living Room and Dining Room, but were so impressed with the build and quality of the furniture that we didn’t want to stop there! Article streamlines the furniture process by directly working with the consumer (that’s you) and the manufacturer. Because they cut out the showrooms, warehouses, and middlemen, Article is able to deliver high-quality furniture to you at an affordable price. They also have an amazing selection of vegan-friendly furniture, which can be hard to come across!

Now that we have a beautiful patio setup, I can’t wait to have friends over and entertain outside – which is where these Watermelon Slushies come in to play!I absolutely love the idea of using Frozen Watermelon in drinks, because:

  • It has a high water content (no need to add extra ice!)
  • It’s naturally sweet (as long as you pick it right – here are some helpful tips)
  • Sometimes the texture of Watermelon is…..less than ideal (read: mealy). However, once it’s frozen and blended, you really can’t tell at all!

With a base of Frozen Watermelon, a touch of Maple Syrup, some Lime Juice to balance the sweet, and some fresh Mint to make thingsjusta little bit more refreshing, these Watermelon Slushies sure are a tasty treat. If you want to switch things up, I also think this recipe would be great with Fresh Basil! And perhaps even a touch of Tequila…if you are over the legal drinking age, obviously 😉

This refreshing Watermelon Slushie Recipe is made with only 4 healthy ingredients! It’s easy to make and perfect for a hot summer day.

  • Author: Caitlin Shoemaker
  • Prep Time: 15 Minutes
  • Cook Time: 0 Minutes
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 Servings 1x
  • Category: Drink
  • Method: Blender
  • Cuisine: American

Ingredients

Scale

  • 10 cups Seedless Watermelon Cubes, frozen for at least 24 hours
  • 24 tbsp Maple Syrup*
  • Juice of 1 large Lime
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Mint or Basil leaves, loosely packed (Optional, but recommended)
  • 1 1/2 cup Filtered Water (see notes for a fun substitution!)

Instructions

  1. First, let the Frozen Watermelon chunks sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to defrostsome. Then, add the Watermelon, 2 tbsp Maple Syrup, Lime Juice, Mint, and Water to a high-speed blender.
  2. Pulse the blender until the Watermelon starts to break up some, then blend to form a thick, slushie consistency. Adjust the Maple Syrup to taste, adding more if necessary. If the mixture is too thick for your liking, you can also add in extra water.
  3. Divide equally into 4 glasses, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you do not have a blender with a tamper, I would suggest making this recipe in a Food Processor instead
  • I used about 1/2 of a Medium-to-Large sized Seedless Watermelon for this recipe
  • You will need to adjust the Maple Syrup in this recipe based on how sweet your Watermelon is; I recommend starting out with 2 tbsp, and increasing from there in 1 tbsp increments.
  • Maple Syrup can be substituted for any other sweetener of choice
  • For a fun fizzy alternative, substitute the Filtered Water with a flavored Sparkling Water of your choice!
