Benefits of these homemade baby yogurt melts

All these ingredients are nutritious and delicious for your growing little one and easily found at any store.Optfor organic yogurt, wherever possible.

Organic milk is healthier because it’s the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids is lower than in regular milk. Allowing your baby to get the healthy fats it needs for brain growth.

Do your best to purchase organic fruits; I find buying them frozen is more cost-effective. Or you can purchase fresh when in season and thenfreezing them.

Using organic fruits helps to eliminate the pesticides that your little one can be ingesting. Pesticides are harder forbabiessmall bodies to process and remove due to their developing livers and kidneys.

If you are unable to buy organicingredients, don’t stress and do your best. You can look into the dirty dozen here for the top fruits to buy organic.

What you will need to make your homemade baby yogurt melts

DIY Homemade Baby Yogurt Melts Recipe ( 3 Yummy Flavors!) (3)

  1. A Blender or a hand blender.  The blender or hand blender blends the fruit and yogurt into a smooth liquid for freezing. I like using a Vitamix blender. NO BLENDER, NO PROBLEM, you can also cook the fruit and mash into a puree if you don’t have a blender.
  2. Plastic bagor piping bag. For piping out, your yogurt melts.
  3. Parchment paper. To prevent the yogurt melts from sticking to the tray when you are freezing.
  4. Cookie tray. A cookie tray that will fit easily into your freezer and can lay flat, so your yogurt meltsdon’t run.
  5. Yogurt. Full-fat Unsweetened Greek yogurt is best for this recipe. Other types of yogurt will be too runny. You can also look below for substitutions to make dairy-free.
  6. Banana. (Optional) Bananas will make the yogurt a little sweeter. But youcan omit and just use different types of fruit.
  7. Fruit. You can use any fruit for this recipe. For this recipe, we did raspberry banana, peach mango and, blueberry.

Getting the right yogurt consistency for the Homemade Yogurt Melts

Greek yogurt oranother type of full-fat yogurts likegoatsmilk or coconut is a must for this recipe.

When you blend in fruits, depending on how juicy they are, you might need to add some more yogurt to thicken the mixture. It should be pretty thick.

If it is too loose, your melts will all run together. Not to worry if this happens as you could break it up into smaller pieces and eat that way.

Piping out of a zip lock bag works best with a tiny cut in the bag. If you cut the hole too big, it will pour out too quickly andmake a mess. I have done this and found the smaller, the better for control. If the bag gets clogged, get a bowl and run your fingers over the end to release the fruit stuck.

Substitutions for these Homemade Yogurt Melts

Replacements are easy to incorporate in this Homemade Yogurt Melts recipe to accommodate milk allergies, food preferences, or food intolerances.

Switch out the diary yogurt– If your little one is allergic or sensitive to diary, you can switch out the cows’ yogurt to a goat yogurt, coconut yogurt, or almond yogurt.

Make sure the yogurts you are buying are very thick. The thinner yogurts will need to be made with puree’s instead of fresh fruit, so they are not too runny.

Make these Homemade Yogurt Melts with all types of fruit, the list below are great options for the types of fruit you can use.
