5 Super Healthy Baby Food Recipes for Squeeze Pouches (2024)

Baby food pouches are literally the best thing to happen to baby food. The only down side is to buy them premade you will spend anywhere between $1 and $2 per pouch. That can add up when your baby really starts eating. When you make your own baby food and use a reusable squeeze pouch, it will save you a lot of money, and you can create any combination of flavors, and nutrients all in your own kitchen! We have 5 delicious and super healthy recipes that are perfect for squeeze pouches.

One of our favorite reusable pouches is the Little Green Pouch. A few of my favorite features:

  • It comes in 2 sizes. The smaller pouch is 3.4 oz which is the perfect size for younger babies who can’t eat as much at a time. AND,the small pouches are also FAA compliant, meaning you can take them filled on an airplane, perfect for holiday travel! I’ve used other pouches, but always end up wasting a lot when my baby is small. The large green pouch is 7 oz and great for toddlers/kids who can eat more.

  • These are freezable! Instead of freezing my baby food in ice cube trays, and having to transfer them, this is a one step process! You can make your homemade baby food in big batches, fill them up and then freeze. To defrost, just place them in warm water when you are ready use. Another great way for older kids to enjoy them is to pack them as freezer packs in their lunch in the morning and they will be ready for squeezing by the afternoon.
  • You can wash these in the dishwasher. Just prop them upside down over the tongs on the top shelf. So easy!
  • If you are worried about your baby learning to use how a spoon, these have attachable spoons that you squeeze right onto! You still get the benefit of using a pouch (portable, less mess) but your baby can also learn to use a spoon!
  • Super easy to fill. You can spoon your mixture into the top, or use a special funnel that comes with their starter kit and pour your mixture right in!

Tips for Making Baby Food:

  • Use a high powered blender. These are so effective and blending everything smoothly, that you can put all your ingredients in raw. No steaming necessary!
  • If you don’t have a high powered blender, you may want to steam the fruits and veggies that have a harder texture – carrots, apples, etc.
  • You can use fresh or frozen fruits and veggies when making baby food. Just make sure you haven’t thawed them and refrozen prior to using them in your baby food recipes.

These 5 recipes are super tasty, and provide a variety of nutrients from different fruits and veggies.

Green Delight

This is one of our favorite smoothies made into baby food! The mango and banana make this very sweet, while introducing a hint of spinach to your baby. Spinach has the most nutrients raw and this will give your baby a power packed does. It is creamy and smooth and definitely a great way to introduce spinach to your little one.

Tropical Peach

This recipe will give your baby a dose of vitamin A and C, both nutrients that help with immune function. The peaches and carrot give it a sweet flavor, while the pineapple adds a bit of tangy goodness.

Blueberry Bonanza

Blueberries are incredibly high in antioxidants as well as manganese, vitamin B6,vitamin C, vitamin K and fiber. Blueberries can also help in preventing constipation. With only 2 ingredients, you can whip this up in just minutes.

Strawberries n’ Cream

This yummy recipe is like dessert! Adding Greek yogurt gives your baby good protein, and combined with strawberries is a great baby breakfast. We used frozen strawberries and it gave it an almost milkshake texture.

OrangeSunrise

This recipe is refreshing and absolutely delicious! Mangoes are a super fruit high in fiber as well as vitamins A (as beta-carotene), B6, C, E and K. Use frozen or fresh mango in this recipe.
